Acquiring Card Access to DPR
Firstly, you must be a member of the Music Society to use the Derwent Practice Rooms. Become a member now.
We have recently updated how you can access the DPR rooms. This now means that you must get your personal student card processed from Derwent Reception after having bought your membership. You will then need to activate the card within a week of having the card processed to enable usage at the practice rooms.

FAQ’S
When will I receive my DPR refund?
We process refunds at the end of the academic year. If you have not received your refund within a few weeks of the year ending, please let us know.
How do I return my DPR card?
We ask that cards are returned sometime before the start of the next academic year. You can either leave your card in the Music Society tray at Music Reception (Sally Baldwin D Block) or you can post it to our address found on this page. Whether you use the tray or post it back, please be sure to attach a note with your name and email address so that we can refund you.
What do I do if my student card isn’t working?
If you have got your card processed from Derwent Reception you need to use the card within a few days in order to activate it for usage. If this does not work please return to the reception and they can re-process the card. If the card continues to not work please email us. Please also check that you have bought membership and it has gone through as we cannot give access to anyone without membership and you won’t be on the list Derwent receives of who to allow access.
Directions
The Practice Rooms are behind Courtyard. These can be accessed by going through the Fire Exit next to D/L/028 (Hendrix Hall) next to the entrance to Courtyard, or by following the path opposite the entrance to the Department of Education, around the Audio/Visual offices.
Room 1
This is one of the smaller rooms, with an organ and upright piano.
Room 2
This is one of the larger rooms. The room is equipped with a piano and a drum kit. There are also lockers which members can use to store instruments by purchasing a locker key through our YUSU page. We have a number of guitars and violins that our members can borrow upon request.
Room 3
This is one of the smaller rooms, with an upright piano and music stands.
Room 4
This is one of the larger rooms. The room is equipped with 2 pianos, an electric organ, and a drum kit.
